Vicky Kafkaki – Graphic Design MA Falmouth University

Introduction: who, what, where and why?

Who?

I am Vicky Kafkaki. I grow up in Bulgaria. I have lived couple years in Greece, where I got married. I have 3 kids.

The last 20 years I live in Maryland (USA). I am a real estate agent (I work for the APR company). My family also owns a carpet cleaning company – I started doing flyers for it and for couple small business (usually friends) and slowly slowly I found myself enjoying it. 

I speak Bulgarian, Greek and English. 

I study Bulgarian philology in Bulgaria. Then I studied graphic design at Sessions College for Professional Design and Bellevue University.

What?

I love reading books – that’s why I study Bulgarian philology. I also like analyzing things  and trying to find what is behind the visible. I am not good on drawing but I love organizing content – creating hierarchy that is functional but also beautiful and grabs the reader’s attention.

Where?

I live in Maryland – this is not far from Washington (that’s why I pick an image of the White House). I plan one day to manage to live couple months in Europe and couple months here – I love traveling – I have seen many places and for me Europe is the best place to live (Italy and Greece are on the top of my list).

Why?

When I was a kid, I use to collect postcards, different magazines, poster, stamps… I think that’s how I started to admire the beauty in print materials. Now I can go to a bookstore and look around for hours or go at the supermarket and look around at package designs….I love being part of creating beautiful things…
