Explore and find an example of a way of thinking. This could be from the area of arts, design, philosophy or science.

Choose a thinker or a process and summarise in a black line drawing.

Explore models of thinking – what sorts of theories and process models exist tot help us generate ideas?

Document your whole process and reflect upon it in your blog

Upload your final black line drawing to the ideas wall and a link to your blog showing process and reflection.

One of my favor designer is Paul Rand – it is amazing how he comes up with great ideas – he uses different kinds of shapes and everything seems so easy made but meanwhile it carries so much information.

The IBM logo is one of my favor -is a perfect example what we can achieve using just lines

Step 2 – exploring the possibilities is where all the idea start coming up – doing research and analyzing everything, will bring you unpredictable ideas.

For the today challenge I took the idea of this image of Paul Rand:

Paul Rand is using just couple elements of the whole image and let the people’s imagination build the whole.

i was thinking couple days what I can create using this approach of visualizing your idea and when I went to Longwood Gardens at Pennsylvania, I saw this:

Probably you are wondering what is this – well, in this spot they always used to have a lot of water but this year they decided to show somehow that we need to be careful with the resources of our planet – so, instead of waisting the water they created with old cds this – it looks like a river – the changes of the angle of the cds, creates the illusion of the movement. I stared thinking how I can create something that shows the awareness of this and also applying the Paul Rands approach.

So, I was constantly changing ideas

This is representing Mother Nature as a women in pain – she is holding her hearth.

I also created this – lines that look like a river – I was going to add circles that look like cds, and then using the white space, include an image inside – but I left this idea

So, here I have the roots, the hands holding the heart and change the hair – that looks like a river. I also include the cds of the second image.

Because the challenge was saying that we should use mostly lines, I decided to simplify it and came up with this:

So, I try to express the weariness of the danger that we live with – damaging our planet trough various of actions (seeing the image with the cds as a river) and applying the approach that Paul Rand uses (the tool of the visual imaginary of our mind)
